In a club interview with Borussia Dortmund, a comment by Jude Bellingham caught the attention of Liverpool fans.
The England midfielder is widely known to be the Reds’ main transfer target this year, with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City also heavily linked with him.
However, there is some speculation that Bellingham is tipped for a move to Anfield and his latest quotes could explain why he was attracted to the idea of playing for the Reds.
An interview with Bellingham was released last year in which he talked about his desire to play for a team that has a good relationship with its fans.
And his latest comments are in the same vein, with the 19-year-old even quoting Liverpool’s infamous “it means more” quote.
“I feel that there are always clubs whose successes are felt a little differently,” he said when asked to talk about Dortmund’s latest DFB-Pokal victory in 2021.
“I think because the fans are so close to the team, because the city is so connected to football, it just means more.
“A win like that, when it means so much to the fans, naturally it means so much to you because you get up Dortmund fan.”
Bellingham would certainly have that connection with the fans if he decided to join Liverpool at the end of this year.
He was also asked about his time with England at the World Cup, where he played a key role in taking Gareth Southgate’s side to the quarter-finals.
Bellingham spoke of relishing the “pressure” and “responsibility” of big games and also indicated that his best football came when he was given “freedom” on the pitch.
During the tournament, he highlighted Jordan Henderson’s role in giving him such freedom when playing alongside him in midfield.
“I felt at home, enjoying the pressure of the games and the responsibility given to me by the coach,” continued Bellingham.
“I think it was my best match Senegal when I was most free and given the right to be decisive and roam the field.
“I think that’s when you saw my best performance in the tournament and it was just nice to play with such freedom regardless of the pressure and to have so many good teammates around me who were just supporting me to keep doing what I was doing. “
Join the reds and there will be many more of them, Jude!
