This week it became known that Taylor Swift is directly responsible for the record year of vinyl record sales in the United States in 2022: of just under 43.5 million records, one in 25 albums purchased was released by a pop megastar.
According to Luminate’s year-end sales report, Swift has sold a total of 1.695 million vinyl records in 2022 – more than Harry Styles and The Beatles, who took second and third place combined. For reference, these artists have sold 719,000 and 553,000 records, respectively.
Most of Swift’s record sales came from her recent 10th studio album, “Midnights,” which has sold 945,000 copies across five colorways. Last month, it was reported that sales figures for “Midnights” made Swift the first popular artist to sell more copies of an album on vinyl than on CD since the 1980s.
The singer is currently rehearsing it “eras” tour, which is scheduled to begin in Glendale, Arizona on March 18th and conclude in Los Angeles, California on August 9th. Paramore will provide support throughout the tour. , beabadoobee, phoebe bridgers, the girl in red, MUNA, Haim, Gayle, Gracie Abrams and Owenn.
