On Saturday morning, the Freetown Hospital announced that Samuel Levers, also known as DJ Lawva’s, died on January 14, 2023.

The entertainment business and the general public are shocked by this tragic news. Earlier this year, on January 12, 2023, the popular DJ celebrated his birthday.

Who was DJ Lawva?

Samuel Leverse popularly known as DJ Lawva was the President of the Sierra Leone DJs Union (SLeDU) and a radio DJ and presenter at Radio Democracy 98.1 FM in Freetown.

One of the key players behind the scenes who contributed greatly to the success of Radio Democracy was DJ Lawva, a well-known figure in the Sierra Leonean music industry. He has big ideas about restructuring the DJ Union and bringing the Union closer to SLAJ.

President Ahmed Sahid Nasrallah said,

“DJ Lawva was one of the stalwarts behind the success of Radio Democracy and a household name in the music industry in Sierra Leone. He had ambitious plans to transform the DJ Union and bring the Union closer to SLAJ. He will certainly be greatly missed.”

It is impossible to overstate the magnitude of his contribution to the development of the entertainment sector in Sierra Leone. He will be missed by friends, family, celebrities and fans.

Many people expressed their deepest sympathies to his family and expressed how much they loved him. The news of this event upset his supporters and fans.
