Like every year, some idols’ contracts, which usually last for 7 years, expire. This means that for certain groups there is a risk of losing members, changing the label or even breaking up completely.
The band everyone is watching this year definitely is BLACKPINK, whose contract expires.
There have been rumors for a while about BLACKPINK’s contract with YG Entertainment. Many fans don’t even want the girls to re-sign with the label, believing they don’t get enough promotion.
The band was recently rumored to be signing a deal with The Black Label. Yg replied that the girls’ contracts haven’t expired yet.
New rumors surfaced on January 23. News agency Munhwa Ilbo reported that participants are offered much higher guarantees elsewhere than at YG Entertainment.
According to an insider, Lisa 100 billion won is offered to change the label, which is almost impossible for YG Entertainment.
Indeed, insiders estimate that YG Entertainment should offer at least 20 billion won for each member. Some also believe that YG Entertainment launched Baby Monster to mitigate a potential setback in reaching an extension agreement with BLACKPINK.
