Country Boy Eddie’s Cause of Death:
Country Boy Eddie’s cause of death was natural and due to the age factor.
Burns, one of eight children raised on his family’s 200-acre farm in Blount County, had decided to pursue a career in radio since he was ten years old and a fan of Curly Fox on the Grand Ole Opry.
In 1946, he learned to play the violin and joined Happy Hal Burns’ band to perform on WBRC-AM’s Crossroads Variety Show.
His nickname was given to him by Burns, who is not related. Burns participated in the Armed Forces Radio Network in Korea, Japan and Hawaii while serving in the US Army during the Korean War.
Who Was Country Boy Eddie?
Country Boy Eddie was a treasure and symbol for WBRC as well as Alabama country music.
At the age of 13, Gordon Edwards Burns sold Garden Spot Seeds door to door before becoming known as Country Boy Eddie to buy his first violin.
Eddie started WBRC’s Country Boy Eddie Show in 1957. He rose to prominence in Alabama as a result of the country music program that aired for 38 years.
He has hosted a number of celebrities on his show over the years (before they were big stars). Country Boy Eddie also had his own music show in Nashville.
