Baby Sagini Suspect, Alex Maina Ochogo

The main suspect in the Baby Sagini case, Alex Maina Ochogo, has been held in prison since December. He complained of lice and bedbugs in prison. Let’s see more about Alex Maina Ochogo trial update in detail.

Alex Maina Ochogo Trial Update:

The main suspect and his accomplices were on trial for an incident in which baby Junior Sagini’s eyes were gouged out. The suspects allegedly responsible for gouging out baby Sagini’s eyes are being escorted by police.

Along with Sagini’s grandmother Pacifica Nyakerario and aunt Rael Mayaka, the suspect Alex Maina Ochogo was charged.

Ochogo and the other accused appeared before Senior Local Magistrate Christine Ogweno at the Kisii Magistrate. The main suspect is asking the court to release him so he can sleep in the bedbug and lice-infested quarters of Kisii Prison.

Mr Morara also criticized the fact that people on social media were violating baby Sagini’s privacy by posting personal details about his condition.

He used as an example a tweet by well-known activist Esnahs Nyaramba, who is based in Kisii.

Mr Morara claimed the activist had written a note explaining she had given up trying to help baby Sagini get justice because of her “frustrations”.

“Your Honor, one of the juveniles, who is a key witness, is going through a range of procedures, including counseling and helping to recover from the traumatic event. Essentially, the two minors receive psychological support from trained staff. We agree that the court should allow more time for the remaining witnesses to attend the hearing,” Mr Morara said.

The court confirms confidentiality:

Mr Morara claimed the youngsters’ conditions were being covered by several social media users who were denying children privacy.

“The Court reaffirms the need and importance to protect the privacy of minors… The media and other users of social media are directed to avoid covering the privacy of minors.” The additional pre-trial will be on March 2 this year,” Ms Ogueno said.

Baby Sagini was found dumped in a corn farm on December 14 last year with her eyes gouged out.
