How did Peyton Tyler die?

Around 5 a.m., according to the Topeka Fire Department, workers went to 916 SW Warren Ave.

When they arrived, they found that the two-story house was engulfed in thick smoke and flames. Unfortunately, the fire also engulfed a residence south of where it started.

Four people lived there at the time of the fire. As soon as an adult and a child were taken out of the building, rescuers began to save their lives.

The youth was later confirmed dead at the hospital after both were rushed there.

A second adult and a child were reportedly found in the house unconscious and later pronounced dead at the scene.

Topeka House Fire Incident:

A fire broke out at 916 SW, Warren Avenue on Friday morning. Three people died in the accident.

Topeka Public Schools has confirmed the child killed is Peyton Tyler, a fourth-grader at Lowman Hill Elementary School.

TPS sent a letter to parents and the message reads:

“It is with great sadness that we share Peyton Tyler, a fourth grade student at Lowman Hill, who passed away this morning as a result of a fire at her home. Peyton has attended Lowman Hill since first grade. Peyton was a student who had many friends and was known for her positivity and joyful spirit. She was loved by many and will be missed by all the pupils and staff at Lowman Hill.’

“The family contacted the school this morning and a mental health team was on site today at Lowman Hill to ensure the students received support and resources before starting their weekend. Our mental health crisis team will remain in place at the school for the next week.’

“When we receive more information about the memorial services, we will keep staff and families informed. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.”

No other information about the victims yet. Police are still investigating the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
