Goshen Domestic Murders:

Police say six family members, including a 16-year-old mother and her 10-month-old baby, were killed in a gang-related attack at a Central California residence.

Goshan police are now looking for at least two suspects in connection with the murders.

Just east of Visalia, in the unincorporated community of Goshen, there was a shooting at a residence.

The victims have been identified as family members. Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreau said it was “very clear” the family knew gang associations — and had been involved in previous drug investigations — were being targeted.

Who are the victims?

All six victims belong to the same Paraz family.

The victims have been identified as 72-year-old Rosa Paraz, 52-year-old Eladio Paraz Jr., 50-year-old Jennifer Analla, 19-year-old Marcos Paraz, 16-year-old Elisa Paraz and her 10-month-old son, Nicholas Paraz, by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

What happened at Gessen’s home? Shooting explained:

After receiving a call reporting multiple shots fired, officers were dispatched to a residence in Goshen around 4 a.m. local time, according to Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreau.

Sheriff Boudreau later said a deputy who responded to the call found the baby in the arms of her 16-year-old mother in a ditch outside the residence.

Both have head wounds. According to Boudreau, a forensic examination determined that she tried to run away before the gunman caught up with her, stood over her and shot her several times in the head.

According to the sheriff, there was another victim standing at the door, and there were three others inside, including an older woman.

Except for one man, who died after being taken to hospital, all were pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff said two women were able to escape the attack by hiding in a nearby trailer.

The three survivors will be interviewed by officials. One of them was hiding in the house during the murders.

“He was in such a state of fear that all he could do was hold the door, hoping he wasn’t the next victim,” Boudreau said.

One of the victims has a criminal record:

Eladio Paraz Jr., a felon who was killed in Monday’s shooting, was arrested Jan. 3 as a result of a search warrant at the home; however, Boudreau claimed that Paraz Jr. was not the “original intended target” and chose not to elaborate.

According to jail records, Paraz Jr., 52, had a long criminal history that included reckless driving to avoid arrest, possession of a firearm and drug use.

According to the sheriff, the search warrant was the result of a parole check during which detectives found shell casings on the ground. According to Boudreau, residents would not allow officials to enter the house.

They returned with a search warrant and arrested Paraz Jr. after finding ammunition, a rifle, a shotgun and methamphetamine in the home, according to court records. He was later released on bail after four days.
