After a permanent move to a Second League club Swindon Town it has been confirmed, Jake Kane has posted an emotional farewell message on social media after 16 unforgettable years at Liverpool.
Kane, now 21, joined the Reds at under-9 level and has been an outstanding player throughout his academic career, a bright talent in midfield who knows how to kick a dead ball.
Despite working his way up to the fringes of the senior team, Kane made just one appearance for the club – in a 1-0 win over Shrewsbury in the 2020 FA Cup Fourth Round replay.
This was followed by a further 12 games as an unused substitute and with other academy midfield talents ahead of him in the pecking order, it was time for a change and new opportunities.
Kane has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with League Two club Swindon Town, a division he is familiar with after spending a season on loan at Newport County in 2021/22.
Now that the deal has been confirmed for an undisclosed fee, Kane says he is “excited about the new challenge”, thanking the club for “making me the player and the person I am today”.
“After 16 years in @liverpoolfc my time at the club is over,” Kane wrote on Instagram.
“It’s time for the next chapter in my career and I’m excited about the new challenge.
“I want to thank all the staff and players for my time at the club for making me the player and person I am today.
“I made lifelong friends and have unforgettable memories, including making my Anfield debut and winning the FA Youth Cup.
“I wish the club all the best for the future, it has been an honor to represent LFC. Thank you!!”
