Noel Gallagher said he was recently “stunned” after a girl asked him what he did for a living.
The former Oasis singer-songwriter appeared on Absolute Radio yesterday (January 17) announcing the High Flying Birds’ fourth album ‘Council Skies’ and sharing new single ‘Easy Now’.
At one point in the conversation, Gallagher mentioned that walks and socializing are still a big part of his life. “Every Thursday you can catch me in the West End – not on stage – usually in the firehouse talking nonsense to someone.
“The other day at the fire station someone asked me, ‘What are you doing?’ And I’m like… I didn’t know what to say.”
Gallagher continued: “Well, I didn’t know what to say because I’d never been asked before. I thought, “Really?” He then pointed to his face and sang the chorus of the classic Oasis hit Don’t Look Back in Anger.
“[The girl said], “So what do you do?” and I was like, “I’m changing people’s lives for the better.” She’s like, “Oh, what? Are you a medic?” I’m like “In a way.”
The musician said the interaction left him “really stunned”, adding: “I thought, ‘Listen, Google this my love… just write “Noel Gallagher”, “High Flying Birds”… if you want. “Oasis”.
“Insert Liam Gallagher, you’ll probably see my picture.”
You can watch the entire interview in the video above.
Elsewhere in the chat, Gallagher weighed in on the ongoing ‘children of nepotism’ debate and talked about his next album.
