She wrote: “Shocked and saddened to hear that veteran journalist Chris Rose has passed away. I always enjoyed meeting him in the field. He was a real professional and a nice guy.
“Our thoughts go out to his family and all his friends at WCSH.”
Another friend, Ted Varipatis, who worked with Chris Rose, wrote: “I’m just speechless and still numb after hearing the news that Chris Rose has passed away. We worked together at Channel 6 for 25 years. I was his editor when he produced the weekend news in 1992, my first year at the station. He quickly became one of the most trusted and accurate reporters in the state. When Chris was in the story, we knew he was going to do a good job. He was the only Maine reporter living in Boston the afternoon of the marathon bombing. He was the only Maine reporter in Watertown when the bomber was captured a few days later. His nickname in the newsroom was Chris F&!&$&$ Rose for a reason. He was so GOOD.
He then transferred to the University of New England, where he majored in public relations. He was so GOOD.
Most recently we worked together on the Maine Celtics. He sat next to me in every game running the graphics and was great at that too. It’s a job he loved. “We get paid to watch basketball!” Those games with Chris were just fun, working with a great team.
My thoughts and love go out to his family and friends. Chris, we will miss you so much and you were taken from us far too soon.”
