Who was Tad Beckman?
Tad Beckman from Portland, Oregon was a talented musician from a young age and started playing guitar at the age of 8. He quickly developed a passion for the instrument and began honing his skills through countless hours of practice. By the time he reached his teenage years, Beckman had already earned a reputation as a skilled guitar player and began playing at local events and venues.
In the early 2000s, Beckman’s talent caught the attention of several prominent musicians in the industry and he was soon offered the opportunity to tour and play with some of the biggest names in music. Davis of The Austin American Statesman described it, and a finger-picked guitar with notes that “fly by like railroad ties,” Tad Beckman has been wowing crowds for the past three decades on shows such as The Late Night Show with David Letterman and Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble, as well as in theaters, clubs, festivals and concert halls in the United States, Canada and Europe.

“Thad was a completely new guy to me, and when I met him, I had the initial feeling that he played music the way I prefer to hear it. After the show we had a conversation and exchanged phone numbers.”

“One day I invited him to my house and we played music together. We shared some characteristics, we were both blues fans from the Northwest who had visited Austin, and that afternoon gave me a sense of the unique man that Tad was,” he said.
Fundraising program
One of his well-wishers, Gina Bacon, set up a fundraising program for Tad’s partner, Susan Anderson, to cover the funeral and other expenses.
