Legendary Mexican wrestler Jesus Toral Lopez, professionally known as the Black Warrior, sadly passed away on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at the age of 54. Lopez wrestled for both LuchaLibre AAA Worldwide and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) during his career. They each independently confirmed the news this morning and wrote a heartfelt tribute to him.

Who was the black warrior?
Black Warrior was born on January 7, 1969 in Torreon, Coahuila. He was a member of CMLL and became a star in the ring in 2000. He later gained immense popularity as one of the most recognizable fighters in the sport. The gladiator continued to fight until his death and also instructed students at the Tepito Arena Welcome ToMiBario and the CuautitlanIzcalli Arena Mama Lucha-s.
Lopez performed for nearly a decade under many names, usually with limited success, before adopting the “Black Warrior” persona. His only notable former in-ring character was ‘Bronce’, which is Spanish for bronze, where he teamed up with Oro and Plata as a member of the ‘Los Metalicos’ combo, a group that was well-liked in the early 1990s. Lopez is the son-in-law of Mano Negro Jr., brother-in-law of Mano Negro, and nephew of Luchador Blue Panther.
Black Warrior Jr., the son of Black Warrior, died on March 17 last year at the age of 24 after battling day after day to recover from a cervical injury that kept him bedridden for seven the month.

Jesus Toral Lopez, better known by his stage name Black Warrior in the world of costalazos, died on Tuesday, January 10 at the age of 54. Black Warrior’s family has yet to provide a statement following Black Warrior’s death, so it is so far it is not known what caused the death of the wrestler.
The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) confirmed this news and issued a statement in response saying,
“CMLL shares the grief of the wrestling family on the sad passing of Jesus Toral Lopez, better known as the Black Warrior. A wrestler who had an outstanding career as part of this organization, reaching his zenith in the 90s and 2000s, the Black Warrior had a career that peaked during those years.
At the time of this writing, no information is available regarding Black Warrior’s burial. However, it is said that they will provide further details about his last rites ceremony soon.

Junior Toral’s Message (Son of the Black Warrior)
The declaration from his son Junior warrior the farewell letter to his father reads:
“Give my brother a big hug and tell him how much I love him. I love you dad, I have no words, now I am alone here on earth, because I know that in heaven I have two beautiful angels. I will always have great respect for you and even though there are times when I wish I could control everything, it’s not possible.

Tributes poured in for the Black Warrior on various social networks. They keep stressing how shocked they are by the news of his passing. LucheLibre AAA worldwide mentioned, “The LuchaLibreAAA family deeply regrets the passing of ‘Black Warrior.’ We wish a speedy departure to family and friends.”
CaristicoMistico tweeted: “Rest in peace Black Warrior, great fighter, rival, friend and human, fly high like the great star that you are. Goodbye my friend Chuy.
El Hijo del Santo wrote: “My deepest condolences to his wife and children and to the entire Luke family.”
