Loot has become one of the unexpected hits of 2022 that many who have seen it can’t stop raving about. The film is a prequel to the 1987 action classic Predator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Not only did Prey receive stellar reviews from critics, it also offered an amazing breakout performance from star Amber Midtander. Now, the actress is teasing a potential sequel on Hulu, and we’re pretty excited.
Midthunder recently attended BAFTA where he spoke to Variety about the film. She was asked if Hulu is releasing a Prey sequel, and the actress seemed very interested in the prospect. While Midthunder remained tight-lipped when it came to official details, she did offer promising information about a possible movie. She opened:
I don’t have a date for you. It’s not advertising, but I’m not saying it’s not. … We talk about a lot of things all the time, and this is probably one.
This is certainly promising news. The fans of “Predator” were delighted that Prey complemented the franchise as well as the established lore the film was based on. I’m sure another prequel film will go even deeper into the titular creature’s origins and perhaps bring back some fan-favorite characters from the original film. fingers crossed Midthunder definitely seems excited and ready to be in another Prey movie because when asked if she wants a sequel, she excitedly replied:
Of course! Yes! I’m ready! I enjoyed this experience, I love this movie and yes, I would love to see where else we can use it.
Well, that’s definitely a great sign. Midthunder was amazing in the movie and seeing her again in such a cool role would be such a treat. For the uninitiated, Loot follows a Comanche warrior (played by Midthunder) who protects the tribe from an alien predator that feasts on humans for fun. The predator in question is a name foreign to the franchise. Although the Predator movies have had several iterations in the franchise, Predator certainly stands out and looks set to satisfy even the most die-hard fans.
The role certainly opened the door for Midthander, who was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for her performance in the film. The actress will also appear in the Netflix series Avatar: The Legend of Aang alongside Daniel Dae Kim. This is a long-awaited project after a much-criticized feature film, also adapted from the famous animated series. Perhaps Midthunder is just what the series needs to succeed with fans.
