
What happened to Larry Thorne
On Tuesday, tragedy struck close to home for the family of 27-year-old Larry Thorne when he was found shot to death on Gold Avenue, just a few blocks from Calvary Cemetery. Lawanda Henderson, the victim’s mother, is mourning the unexpected death of her oldest son. According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), officers responded to a “person down” call and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived on scene. The man died on the spot, the police said.
Initial reports released by MPD indicate that officers were called to Gold Avenue after receiving a “person down” call around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. When they arrived at the scene, they found an elderly man with an apparent gunshot wound and immediately began rendering medical aid until emergency services arrived on scene. Unfortunately it was too late; Larry Thorne died at the scene from his injuries.
