What Happened to Downtown Brooklyn in Cleveland?
Four people were shot and an 8-year-old child was injured on Friday night the 13thth January at a home in downtown Brooklyn in Cleveland. A man has been identified in connection with these incidents. Martin Munitz, 41, was charged Sunday with three counts of aggravated murder, according to court records. Additional costs may apply. He is scheduled to appear in Cleveland Municipal Court on Tuesday.
A criminal complaint filed in Cleveland Municipal Court alleges that around 7:10 p.m. on Jan. 13, Munitz shot all five victims in the head. According to police, Muniz waved at officers around 7:50 p.m. and told them about the shooting and where the victims were. Around 8pm on Friday, police were called to the house after learning that multiple people had been shot.

Martin Munitz is a 41-year-old man from Cleveland who is suspected of killing five innocent people. According to police, Muniz’s sister, father and nephew are Angelique, Miguel and Jaden. The five family members were allegedly shot in the head at various locations around the house, according to Munitz’s affidavit. At a residence in the 3700 block of Mack Court, Muniz was being held and charged with murdering his father, sister and nephew.

On Saturday, the Cuyahoga County medical examiner announced that three more people had died there. Jaden Baez, 16, Miguel Gonzalez, 69, Angelique Gonzalez, 34, Baez Gonzalez, 69, Miguel Gonzalez, Angelique’s father, and Anthony Booth, the fourth victim, was 48 years old and died at the hospital. They were all residents of the Mack Court complex and were well known and loved by their community.

The Cleveland Police Department quickly responded to the scene and was able to secure the area. They are currently investigating the shooting and trying to determine a motive for Munitz’s actions.
Cleveland Police Chief Wayne Drummond said: “We believe preliminary evidence suggests it is domestic related. Our thoughts are with the family, friends and other associates and the investigation is ongoing.
After the McCourt shooting, the Cleveland community came together to support the victims and their families. A memorial has been erected at the apartment complex and local organizations have organized fundraisers to help with costs.
