The latest news surrounding Manchester United’s transfer target Yusufa Mukoko has been met with surprise and intrigue. The 18-year-old sensation has reportedly rejected a €6m contract offer from Borussia Dortmund and is now being courted by a number of clubs. Erling Haaland himself has declared that Mukoko is better than he was at the same age. Barcelona have been linked with the player, but he is said to prefer a move to Camp Nou over the Premier League. Bayern Munich are also said to be interested, while United’s financial situation and potential sale of the club has limited their transfer activity. There is also speculation that Mukoko’s age may have been faked, with reports claiming he is actually 22 years old. As the drama continues to unfold, it remains to be seen which team will be able to sign the highly-rated player.
According to a new report, Manchester United target Yusufa Mukoko does not want to play in the Premier League.
The 18-year-old sensation was out of contract with Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, and he rejected a €6m contract offer from the Bundesliga.
He scored six goals and provided four assists in 14 games for Dortmund this season.
The impending arrival on the market of a teenage sensation dubbed “the next Haaland” and declared by Erling Haaland himself to be better than he was at the same age, has sparked the interest of a number of clubs.
It was previously reported that Barcelona were interested but could not make a move this month, giving Premier League clubs such as United and Chelsea free access to the player.
But now, according to the Catalan edition of sports, the player has decided he will wait for the Spanish side or sign a new contract with Dortmund with a special ‘Barca clause’ allowing him to join them as and when they can take him.
“Blaugrana is very interested in the striker and the striker is very interested in the maroons,” says Sport.
“In fact, everything brewing around the contract extension negotiations with Borussia Dortmund go in that direction.
Barca wasted no time and did everything they could to position themselves favorably for his eventual signing.
“To such an extent that their rivals, little by little and having learned all the ins and outs of the movements going on between the two sides, are beginning to give way.”
In that regard, the publication mentions Chelsea, stating that they are instead turning their attention to Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach.
“Mukoko, for his part, does not rule out an expansion in his current team, although he sets certain conditions. One of them is a release clause of €50 million, which would be lower in the case of some clubs.
“One of them is Barca, who, yes, hope that they will not continue their relationship with the Germans and will be able to sign him for free in June.
“There is no doubt that Mukoko does not want to go to the Premier League and prefers to play at Camp Nou.
Sport did not say which other teams could be included in the special buy-back clause, but it is unlikely to be United if they are correct in their claim that the player does not want a move to the Premier League.
Bayern Munich is another obvious alternative linked with interest.
For their part, United are currently also limited in terms of transfer offers due to their uncertain financial situation and the impending sale of the club.
Also recently there were reports that the player’s age was faked and that he is actually 22 years old and this drama may affect the red devils make a move for the player or not.
